Liturgical Ministries
Ushers

Ushers greet people at Masses and other liturgical celebrations. As a minister of hospitality, the ushers will also distribute worship books and bulletins.  They will also assist to seat late arrivals.  At the presribed time the ushers are responsible for taking  up the collection and conclude their ministry for the day by tallying the collection after Mass.

If you are interested  in becoming an usher, please contact Ray Bucholz 440-355-6349

Sacristans

Sacristans are specially trained in the preparation of the sanctuary for the celebration of Mass.  They are also trained in the proper methods for purifying and cleaning the Communion bowls,  Chalices, and Cups, all of which are used  as vessels for the precious Body and Blood of our Lord during the Mass.

Sacristans are required to arrive well in advance of the scheduled liturgy to set out the proper vessels and the unconsecrated bread and wine.  They will also ensure the purificators and other incidentals are ready for the scheduled liturgy.   They may also be called upon to prepare the Baptismal area should a Baptism be scheduled at a given Mass.

If you are interested in participating as a Sacristan, please contact Fr. Cole.

Music Ministers

Traditionally, our Choir members sing at Saturday or Sunday Mass.

The music ministry has practice  once per week however attendance is not mandatory except for holiday preparation.

There is also a Funeral Choir used for our funeral masses which occur.  Those who wish to sing at funeral Masses and are available on weekday mornings are encouraged to join the Funeral Choir.

Instrumentalists, under the direction of the music minister, accompany or lead the congregation in song at Masses and other liturgical celebrations.  Musicians must be able to read music, play from chord indications, or play well by ear and must attend choir rehearsals.

If you are interested in participating in any aspect of the music ministry, please contact our Music Director:  Carl Lee (440) 320-9138.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are parishioners who have received special training from the pastor, and training and certification from the Diocesan Office for Worship.  This ministry is used in settings where there are insufficient priests and deacons to properly facilitate the distibution of Holy Communion.

In addition to assisting at mass, Eucharistic Ministers are encouraged to take Holy Communion to Catholics who are homebound, hospitalized, or residents of nursing homes.  Some hospitals and nursing homes may require that the Extraordinary Minister receive orientation.  The institution may also require a background check.
